Promoting Scientific &
Medical Collaborations
The Texas Medical Center (TMC) began with the dream to create a world-class facility where people from all walks of life could have access to the best health care anywhere.
Today at TMC, there are 14 renowned hospitals, two specialty institutions, three medical schools, six nursing schools, as well as schools of dentistry, public health, pharmacy. Together, they cover virtually all health-related careers. Now the world’s largest medical center, TMC boasts over 85,000 health care workers.
Rice University, adjacent to TMC, has highly ranked science, engineering and business schools, and provides an ideal platform for collaboration. In 2007, Jack Gill joined the faculty at Rice to create initiatives and courses for scientists, engineers, physicians and entrepreneurs at TMC. Major goals include increased collaboration, accelerated intellectual property development, licensing, spinouts, company formation, venture financing and job creation.
Jack also has supported the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship at Rice's Jones Graduate School of Business. The Alliance ranks as one of the nation’s leading entrepreneur centers. Led by Brad Burke, the Alliance has created the world’s largest and richest business plan competition. |
